In a sport known for its lack of diversity, Dennis Ranalter has defied the odds and risen to become an exceptional freeride skier recognized and respected around the world. Growing up Black, deep in the Austrian Tyrol, he encountered a lifetime of overt and covert racism of which he has rarely spoken. Now, with the rise of Black Lives Matter, and at a time of open support and growing recognition of the injustices faced by people of color, Dennis shares some of his experiences—hoping that by doing so more people of color will feel a sense of belonging and possibility in the world of skiing.
