A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Sally Jewell served as U.S. Secretary of the Interior from 2013-2017 following more than 40 years in business, including eight years as CEO of REI Co-op. In government, she advocated for balanced protection of public lands and waters, working closely with President Obama on long-term conservation of our nation’s most vulnerable and irreplaceable treasures. Recognizing the growing disconnect between youth and the outdoors, she helped create “Every Kid Outdoors,” providing all 4th graders in the country with access to a free pass to national parks and public lands. Jewell currently serves on several corporate and nonprofit boards. She is a frequent contributor to several universities through guest lectures, mentoring, and helping students and faculty work across disciplines, and in partnership with communities, understand how their diverse skills and life experiences are essential to shaping a future that is equitable, economically successful, and environmentally sustainable for all.
